Hood has been sanded and primered. I'm doing one panel at a time. The truck's paint was already shot so I can't make it any worse.

What kind of gas mileage do you get in your taco?

When my teammates and I did our original LeMons theme, we painted our car with rollers.
Anything you do will far exceed that. By a mile.

20mpg in mixed driving with considerable amounts of time idling, drive thrus and maybe 5% off road. Haven't taken it out on a long highway trip yet though.

There isn't too much out there about it. Only a handful of pictures. I'm trying to decide wether do do the bed all red like the trophy truck or do white bed with red band like on the production pickup. Roof will be red and the hood part will follow the indentions.

I'm actually doing this with rollers. 50/50 mix rustoleum with mineral spirits. I do plan on taking my time though and sanding between every coat. I plan on about 6 coats.

what engine transmission and is it 2wd or 4wd, I like them and am car shopping. My car only gets 19. Congratulations on starting the painting process, it should look pretty sweet

2.7l inline 4 with the 5 speed (w56?) and it is a 4x4. I bought it from my neighbor for $1400, which is around bluebook in rough shape and my local government's tax value . I think I got a good deal. I can't find a 4x4 for less than 4k on craigslist and those ones, like mine have over 200,000 miles.

always been interested in this method. Considering doing for my truck, but likely will do all the prep and take it somewhere to be sprayed.

Why not get aerosol paint mixed up like Ed China did in the early wheeler dealer seasons? He got pretty good with a spray can.

With the roll on method you get an even coat and minimal over spray. I'll probably end up spraying the door jambs and under the hood. And the part of the a pillar not on the door.

My mom is trying to tell me that I should just have it painted for my birthday instead of going through all this trouble. She changed her mind after I told her how much a cheap macco job would cost.

I've actually scrubbed all the overspray off all ready. I'm actually just spraying on the primer. The paint will be rolled on.

oh, I've heard that very successful. you put it on a little runny or something and it smooths out all nice. I read a write up somewhere once. the results were surprisingly good
